Wood and Weave

P1130488ed

The family who lived here before us were clearly fond of stripped wood (this was the 1970s) and I think probably did the work themselves. The house was mostly burnt down during a fire in in the 18th century; I guess stripping this cupboard door was as close as it got to being burnt down again in the 20th. We liked the effect though so left it. The woven dish Mrs T got in Port Elizabeth, South Africa when she was working in a rural community near there.
