I find this image very restful. Also, I covet the vase. It is the perfect shade of blue.
See what you mean about restful, though I find it somehow very precarious too, which is a surprising combination. And I very much like that blue as well 🙂
It’s a Vogelperspektive (bird’s perspective) in German, which is complemented by the Froschperspektive (frog’s p.), which I see is a “worm’s eye view” in English. Aren’t languages fascinating?
They certainly are!
The English expression can also refer to the point of view of a less powerful person or group. This second meaning is assumed in the (otherwise apparently pointless) English saying; ‘One day the worm will turn’. That expression should be accompanied by nodding the head slightly, and be followed by a very slight but still visible pursing (not puckering) of the lips 🙂

Interestingly, I have a vase very much like this one — pretty sure it used to belong to my grandmother.
Sorry for the slow reply but we are flitting about a lot at the moment! We cannot recall when we were given our bowl, but it was a gift from our neighbours years ago. It says ‘Maleme’ on the bottom, which could be the village of that name in Crete. The maker’s initials(?) are KK. Pottery is certainly made there today, see for example:

The style is very different but bright deep blues do seem to be popular there today so maybe that is the source?
