    I agree Harrie; luckily the various kinds of white in the bin and the fridge below emphasised the shadows quite nicely.

    I would like a comparison picture which shows the entire bread bin…seeing as I haven’t a clue what one looks like. If you ever take such a shot, of course.

    No, can’t photograph whole things as the camera is too small :))
    On bread bins- not a clue what you would call these in the USA; they are just large rectangular or cylindrical metal containers with a lid, big enough to hold a loaf or two. Manufacturers with literary ambitions stencil ‘Bread’ on the side, and that’s about it. Another typical version (also mysteriously called a bin) is made of wood with a sort of roll top slatted cover.
    Ours does the job very well but is perhaps a little eccentric. It has the standard handle to lift the lid off but, for no obvious reason, also has another handle (just visible centre left) to lift the whole contraption up with. This is presumably designed for people who like to walk round the house carrying their bread bin…
